Your Garden - November
If you are not sure what jobs you could be doing in your garden in November, here are a few suggestions:

Kitchen Garden
  • Dig over and add manure to ground ready for planting new fruit
  • Plant containerised and bareroot fruit trees and bushes
  • Check fruit and vegetables in store and discard any that are rotting
  • Dig or fork over vacant vegetable patches incorporating plenty of manure
  •
Compost any remaining vegetable plants & apply Garotta compost accelerator.
  • Sow broad beans (Aquadulce Claudia) for an early crop next year

Flower Garden
  • Plant bareroot roses, trees and shrubs
  • Plant tulip and lily bulbs
  • Check wall plants and climbers and ensure they are securely tied in
  • Cut back faded border perennials
  • Protect tender plants with fleece and put bubble insulation up in greenhouses.
  • Take hardwood cuttings and root them outdoors
  • Brighten tubs and baskets with pansies, violas and mini cyclamen

 Lawns

  • Give the lawn a final cut setting blades high
  • Send mower for servicing
  • Lay turf if ground is not too wet or frozen
  • Dig over ground where new lawns are to be laid removing any perennial weeds

Gardening will be very much dependent on the weather in your area with the timings given as a guide only.
