About Us - A family-owned independent Nursery

Burstow Nurseries has been owned by Philip and Sheila Corby since June 1970.  The Nursery once supplied fruit and vegetables to many local shops and businesses, but as the large supermarkets opened and extended their hours, fewer people bought their fruit and vegetables from independent suppliers.  The Nursery had to therefore diversify into plants and the rest as they say is history.  For further details of our range of plants please refer to our Plant pages.

The Garden Shop continues to stock Fresh Farm Eggs, Sacks of Potatoes and Local Honey from Horley.  For more details please refer to local produce.

The current Manager, Chris Corke, has a team of five staff (Coral, Kevin, Margaret, Nicola and Sylvia) who are on hand to offer friendly advice and assistance for all your planting needs.

Philip and Sheila Corby are now semi-retired, although they continue to provide assistance during busy periods.
Company history

The Nursery was founded in 1932 and was originally the walled garden for Burstow Hall (located next to the nursery).  Burstow Hall was sold off after World War 2 when the House was split into three individual houses and the nursery site sold separately.
